Formerly, the principal function of curtains in a bedroom was more of an esthetic matter. Nowadays, it\u2019s a matter of esthetic and functionality.  Meaning, we can\u2019t imagine a pretty curtain not responding to our needs, and to the contrary, a curtain that covers our needs, but horrible.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I\u2019m taking the liberty of giving you advice about which kind of fabrics to use in your bedrooms so you can enjoy of pleasant rest and achieve a cozy place.<\/p>\n

The majority of my clients with a classic style have clear which range of colors they want in their bedrooms and which type of curtains: TRADITIONAL CURTAINS. But they don\u2019t know which fabric to choose.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first question I ask them is, What do you need? Privacy, sift the light, protect your furniture, decorate, or darken up the room completely for sleeping\u2026?<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/strong><\/p>\n

From this point on, we start to focus on which type of fabric is the most convenient for them.  If the answer is:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

–          Privacy: we suggest a net curtain or a transparent fabric.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

–          Sift the light: on this event we must visit the house in order to verify the effect of the light they have.  To most effect, more thick the fabric should be and to lightest effect, less dense or more transparent the fabric.<\/p>\n

–          Protect furniture: here we also must have in mind the effect of the light in the room, but not use too dense fabric because it\u2019s not necessary.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

–          Decorate: this give us a free pass to look for fabrics, textures and colors.  Although, I must clarify that I ALWAYS am in favor of keeping the most amount of natural light.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

–          Darken the room completely for sleeping: I want to hold up about this topic. Nowadays, we find ourselves with less exterior blinds due to the big windows or crystals that prevail.  This makes us to darken up the rooms if we don\u2019t want to be awake at the first hour in the morning (especially during summer).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The solution to this are the DARKENING FABRICS. These are fabrics that block the pass of light in a 95% or 100%.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And how is that achieved?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There\u2019s 3 ways of to block the light on such a high percentage:<\/p>\n

1.  With a thick fabric, meaning, the threads have been knit very close together eliminating the max amount of holes through where light can pass by.  This is the most traditional way, which requires less technique and that one from the darkening fabrics that lets most light pass by. We\u2019re talking about a 95%, approximately.<\/p>\n

2.  A back fabric layer, and a front one from the same fabric, and in the middle a black fabric that absorbs the light and prevents its pass.  With this technique we achieve a 98, 99% opacity, a very good texture and a great drop.  The more dark the fabric is, the more dark it will get.<\/p>\n

3.  The darkening fabric by excellence, meaning, the one we achieve 100% darkness with, is a fabric that has a resin layer on the back that totally covers up the holes preventing the pass of light.  With this kind of fabric we get to darken up even the most lit day of summer but the touch of it is thick and rough.<\/p>\n

In the great majority of cases we get to the conclusion that the customer needs a double curtain with a more transparent texture for the day and a dark one or foscurit for the night if they don\u2019t have blinds or, it\u2019s enough if they have decorative transparent texture.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Fortunately, each year there\u2019s new novelties on dark fabrics or Black Out and it wouldn\u2019t surprise me that in a couple of years we achieve 100% opacity with an impeccable texture and drop.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With so many fabrics in the market, it\u2019s complicated to choose, that\u2019s why you can write or visit us in our showroom for specialized advice.<\/p>\n
