My post today is about a paradox. I always talk about curtains as a functional element — to protect from the sun and provide privacy — as well as an aesthetic one. But functional above all.
Fortunately, in this line of work, I never stop learning. Yesterday we finished a fitting in a spectacular house in an exclusive part of Mallorca, where we hung traditional curtains with voile with the sole purpose of decorating the walls.
My client didn’t need protection from the sun, because it doesn’t reach that spot, nor privacy, because she has no neighbours. She simply wanted to decorate her walls, giving them movement, without covering them in paintings… A curtain instead of a painting. Sounds strange, doesn’t it?
When we first considered it, we were clear that the fabric needed a wonderful drape, and we found exactly that (and it wasn’t expensive, either).
I won’t go on any longer — I’ll leave you with the images so you can judge for yourselves.
