It might seem very simple to choose a parasol, but the truth is that it isn’t. There’s a huge variety of parasols, and each one has its own advantages, even though they all serve the same purpose.
To work out which type of parasol you should choose, you first need to look at the features of the place where you’re going to put it, or how you want to use it, so that it meets your needs:
Below are a few tips on what kind of parasol to choose, depending on the location and how you’re going to use each one.
– For spaces where the parasol needs to be taken down every day, we recommend a parasol with a base plate or surface heavy enough that the wind won’t blow it over, but light enough that you can still carry it when it’s time to put it away.

– For spaces where you can leave the parasol in place for a long period of time, we recommend a sturdier parasol with a socket-mounted base (a hole in the ground with a screwed-in base), which allows for greater stability.
With this option, you can also remove the parasol simply by unscrewing the base from the ground and putting the parasol away.

Ground-socket parasol
– If you don’t want the pole positioned in the centre of the parasol, there are parasols with offset arms that allow for a larger canopy and offer a very modern, practical solution.

– If what you’re after is a parasol with no ground support, ideal for patios and terraces, the solution is a footless parasol — that is, a parasol with an arm that allows it to be mounted on a wall, making the most of whatever space you have on the terrace.

Wall-mounted parasol
– If you want to shelter from the wind as well as the sun, there are also parasols that allow you to add screens, lighting and heating, protecting you from the cold in winter.
