A Curtain or Blind for Every Space

2 min read

Almost all of us have experienced this: once we’ve chosen the decor for our living room or bedroom, we don’t know what type of curtain or blind to choose.

That’s why today I’m going to offer some suggestions so that, if you have any doubts when it comes to dressing your windows, this can help or guide you in some way.

There are several things we need to consider:

  1. We need to check whether the window opens outwards or slides, because this greatly influences how we install the curtains or blinds.

  2. If the window is small, curtains such as pleated or “pacchetto” blinds, roller blinds, Venetian blinds or pleated blinds would work well. We would not recommend vertical blinds or Japanese panels.

  1. If the window is large, you have more options to choose from: traditional curtains, vertical blinds, Japanese panels, roller blinds and Venetian blinds.

  1. If the decorated space is small, simple curtains such as roller blinds, pleated or “pacchetto” blinds, traditional curtains or Venetian blinds work best, always in plain, neutral colours.

  1. If the space is large, you practically have free rein to dress your windows. You could consider Japanese panels, wooden or aluminium Venetian blinds, any type of curtain, or blinds in plain, mixed or patterned fabrics.

  1. If the decor is rustic, we suggest traditional net curtains or wooden Venetian blinds.

  1. For a classic space, we recommend a double traditional curtain (a net curtain or Polyscreen fabric plus a thicker fabric), as this dresses the room and allows you to adjust the light with patterned or jacquard fabrics.

  1. For a chic setting, with antique but updated furniture and chandeliers, we suggest a net curtain to create a romantic, homely feel.

  1. For a minimalist setting, we suggest roller blinds, vertical blinds or Japanese panels (depending on the size of the room).

  1. A bedroom or living room with a modern style, simple furniture, cream colours and darker colour accents (for example, beige and chocolate brown) would suit a curtain with a bit of flourish, as this would highlight that area.
